How It Works
For Buyers
- Create an account: Complete the online registration form by filling in all sections accurately and completely. YOU MUST BE REGISTERED TO PLACE A BID SUCCESSFULLY. A valid credit card and a valid email account must be used to complete verification of registration. All information is encrypted, and our credit card payment processor has one of the most stringent levels of security certification available in the payments industry. Once all the information has been provided, you will need to read through and accept our terms & conditions. You will then be ready to start bidding.
- Preview items: Online previewing is available 24 hours a day once items have been posted on our website. All in-person previews (when available) must be scheduled ahead of each auction’s scheduled conclusion. To schedule a preview please call customer services at 808-260-8979
- Bidding: With our online auctions, bidders have the option to place a bid for the current amount or set a maximum price that they would be willing to pay for an item. The computer will place a new bid following the bid increment every time someone else places a higher bid than you. This max bid process is called a proxy bid. It will continue to do that until the auction is over and you win, or the price goes over your set maximum bid amount. Bidders are notified if their maximum has been outbid and will have the option to set a new maximum to continue participating in the auction. “Essentially the bidder is telling the computer to assist them in winning the item at the lowest amount possible without going higher than their maximum amount.”
- "Buy Now" purchase: “Buy Now” lot listings allow you the opportunity to purchase an item outright at a fixed price without waiting for an auction to end. The “Buy Now” section can be viewed on the homepage section labeled “Shop Our Gallery” or by accessing it through the Buy Now icon at the top of the main homepage.
- Always review your dashboard account: Your Dashboard is a visual display viewable only by you, the registered bidder. It contains all your auction activities and data. Its primary intention is to provide current and past auction information at-a-glance.
- Bidding extension: This is the extended bidding function. Every item has a scheduled closing time, however if there is active bidding within the last 3 minutes of the scheduled closing time for an item, that item will remain open until 2 minutes have elapsed with no new bids.
- Close of auction: Once all bidding has ended on all items, the auction will conclude. After the end of the auction the winning Bidders’ credit card will be charged for all items won. A 18% buyer premium and a Hawaii GE State tax of 4.712% is added onto the total amount.
- Invoicing: Following the closing of an auction, if you are the winning bidder, you will be notified by email and a copy of your Invoice will be posted in your online account Dashboard. The invoices will contain a list of all items won and the total amount charged including all fees. If you do not recieve an invoice email please contact us you may have exceeded our $3000 maximum credit charge or there may have been an issue with credit card on file.
- Schedule your pickup time: Once items have been paid for, you will be asked to schedule a pickup time which is displayed at the bottom of your Dashboard invoice. Select an available date and time during hours of operation. Once scheduled, your pickup time will be displayed on your online invoice for reference.
- Pickup your items: Come to your scheduled pickup time with a copy of your paid in full invoice. If you have someone else picking up your items, they must present a copy of the invoice before any items are released. Please call us at 808-260-8979 if you are unable to pick up at your scheduled time. All Items must be picked up within 72 hours of the close of auction that items were purchased in. Because of limited parking, we will be enforcing strict pickup scheduling to minimize traffic at pickup locations. Once you have arrived and a space is available, a Hawaii Auction Services employee will bring items out to you at the designated loading space. Bidders are responsible for loading their own items, our employees are not allowed to load items into vehicles so please bring help if you purchase a large item.
- Enjoy your purchase and come back for another auction!
